Celebrating the 61st Anniversary of Udayana University, UPT Library, Holds International Community Service
Udayana University (Unud) Library held International Community Service, Friday-Saturday, 1-2 September 2023 at the Grand Inna Kuta Hotel. This activity was attended by around 100 people consisting of participants who came from various countries including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, America, China, Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.
The theme of this activity is Cultural Literacy: Introduction to Balinese Cuture to International Audience. The resource persons for this activity are librarians, library staff, reading ambassadors, and Udayana University students who have knowledge in writing Balinese script, making offerings (canang and kwangen), traditional Balinese clothing, as well as knowledge about Balinese culture in general. This activity aims to promote Balinese culture to the international world so that the role of librarians in providing cultural information can be implemented. This activity was also supported by several lecturers and students from domestic universities, namely the University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, and Dr. Sutomo Surabaya.
Head of the Udayana University Library, Dr. Ida Ayu Laksmita Sari, stated that community involvement in improving library performance refers to the decision of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 303 of 2022 concerning Higher Education Library Accreditation Instruments.
"If it is related to this service, community involvement is included in the 9th component, namely the Community Literacy Development Index," explained the Head of the Library.
In the end, holding this International Community Service activity will be able to introduce the UPT profile of the Udayana University Library and introduce Balinese culture in general to international guests, as well as requiring the role of librarians to play an active role in contributing to knowledge, especially those related to Balinese culture.
