Republic of Indonesia Darmasiswa Program 2023/2024 Reopens, Welcomes 306 Darmasiswa from 71 Countries
After three years of hiatus due to COVID-19, in 2023 the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will re-open the Darmasiswa Republic of Indonesia program. The one-year non-degree scholarship program offered by the Indonesian government to all non-Indonesian citizens from countries that have diplomatic relations with Indonesia was officially opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ir. Suharti, M.S., Ph.D at the Pullman Central Park Hotel Jakarta, Wednesday (30/08/2023). Through this Darmasiswa program, Suharti hopes that participants and alumni can become Indonesian ambassadors in their respective countries so that Indonesian language, culture and culinary delights become increasingly known and loved by the world.
The Darmasiswa Orientation opening event was also attended by the Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Ambassadors from each friendly country as well as 306 Darmasiswa from 71 countries and Darmasiswa administrators from 66 universities in Indonesia.
Coordinator of the Office of International Affairs at Udayana University (KUI Unud) Dr. Eng. Ir. Ni Nyoman Pujianiki, ST., M.T., Eng, IPM and P.A.A. Senja Pratiwi, Ph.D as the manager of Udayana University Darmasiswa attended the event representing Udayana University. The KUI Coordinator hopes that Udayana University can become a sustainable Darmasiswa manager with the number of Darmasiswa continuing to increase every year coming from various countries in the world so that Unud's existence can further increase. This is also one of the important factors for the internationalization of Unud towards a World Class University.
This year, Udayana University accepted four Darmasiswa students from Japan, South Korea, China and Poland who will study Indonesian language and culture, tourism and Indonesian gastronomy for one year at Udayana University.
