Udayana University International Advisory Board (IAB) Holds Focus Group Discussion "Pre-Annual Meeting IAB"

The Udayana University International Advisory Board (IAB) Secretariat Team which is under the auspices of the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LP3M) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled IAB Pre-Annual Meeting on Tuesday, August 29 2023 in the Udayana University Postgraduate Hall, Campus Sudirman. This activity invited all deans and vice deans for academic affairs at Udayana University (Unud), representatives of the Professors Forum, representatives of the PTNBH Team and units with an interest in internationalization.

This activity is a preparation for the Annual IAB Meeting which will be held on September 28 2023, in conjunction with the 61st Anniversary of Udayana University. Udayana University IAB is an International Advisory Board consisting of 10 Professors/Professors, academics and researchers from various disciplines knowledge and diverse cultural backgrounds come from various leading universities in the world, to help and support improving the quality and relevance of Udayana University's tridharma activities which are also able to produce international recognition, which in turn is expected to increase Unud's global outreach and impact on the global community.

This Pre-Annual Meeting aims to (1) Socialize international accreditation and certification and also the role of IAB Members of Udayana University; (2) Develop ideas and concepts related to the development direction of Udayana University, including international recognition; (3) Collect data related to the conditions and targets of each study program; (4) Assessing the needs and support required by each study program to achieve targets; (5) Determine the direction and action plan that will be discussed in more detail at the 2nd Annual Meeting in September 2023.

The Pre-Annual Meeting was opened by Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.,Sc.,Ph.D. representing the Rector of Udayana University. In his remarks Prof. Sujaya conveyed about the Direction and Policy of Internationalization (Strategic Planning) and Socialization of the Role of IAB Members. In his description, Prof. Sujaya conveyed the legal basis for internationalization at Udayana University, including several achievements that have been achieved, especially in QS AUR, QS WUR and QS Star since 2016.

The next session presented an explanation of the achievements that have been achieved by Unud related to internationalization, starting with the establishment of the Office of International Affairs, internationalization in the academic field, research and international research collaboration, international accreditation and certification, the establishment of IAB, and the ranking and rating status achieved by Unud, especially AUR. (Asian University Rankings), WUR (World University Rankings), and QS Stars rating by Ainul Ghurri, ST, MT, Ph.D., chairman of the Center for Internationalization of LP3M. The discussion also reviews the ranking criteria data in more detail in the form of benchmarking data for AUR and WUR 3 universities, respectively Udayana University (rank 501-550 AUR, 1401+ WUR), Brawijaya University (rank 225 AUR, 801-850 WUR), and the University of Indonesia (rank 49 AUR, 237 WUR).

In session 1 of the FGD, IAB internal member Prof. Dr. dr. Ketut Suastika, Sp.PD-KEMD acted as a discussion facilitator on the topic of the AUR-WUR internationalization and ranking program, with the main material provided in the Pre-Annual Meeting booklet. With this presentation material, it is then used in discussion forums to capture ideas and ideas from participants, especially units and study programs regarding future preparation and development to support internationalization, as well as strategies and activity plans that can be prepared to take advantage of the existence of IAB Members.

In session 2 of the FDG, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Mahardika, M.S. act as a facilitator on the topic of forms of support needed and already received for internationalization programmes.

The next session was the submission of the follow-up plan from today's discussion results delivered by the Head of LP3M Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr. Sc.,Ph.D. The Pre-Annual Meeting ended with the delivery of details of the plans for the 2nd Annual Meeting by dr. Ni Nengah Dwi Fatmawati, S.Ked., Sp.MK.(K), Ph.D. Discussions and input were also provided by the participants by filling out the Discussion Sheet provided by the committee. All results of discussions and input will be systematically summarized so that they can be used as documents for internationalization development purposes, and specifically to be submitted at the 2nd Annual Meeting of IAB which will be held on 28 September 2023.
