The Importance of Dryland Management, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste sends staff to attend training at Udayana University
Dryland Agriculture Masters Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University (Unud) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste held International Training on Soil Analysis, Plant Breeding Technology, and Postharvest Technology for Timor Leste Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Staff, which took place in the Senate Room of Udayana University Denpasar Agrocomplex Building, Monday (21/8/23).
Dr. Ir. Gede Wijana, M.S. as the Chief Organizer reported, the number of participants in this training amounted to 13 people divided into 3 classes. This training was held in collaboration with laboratories from the Faculty of Agriculture involved in this activity. Participants who take part in the training, in addition to getting theory and practice on campus, will also get practice in the field and also practice in collaboration with worm processing farmer groups, kinar farmer groups in Megati Village, Tabanan. In addition, an international service will also be held to support the activities of the 56th anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture and the 45th Anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture (BKFP).
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unud Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gede Ustriyana, M.M. expressed his gratitude for the trust given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste to the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University as a place to improve the competence of staff in agriculture, especially those in Timor Leste.
Meanwhile the Director General of Cooperation and Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste Dr. Cesar Jose d Crus said that this was the umpteenth time that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Forestry of Timor Leste sent staff to the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University for training. With the implementation of this training, it is hoped that the participants will gain as much knowledge as possible to apply upon their return from Bali. "I believe that with the help of all parties from the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, this will help facilitate participants so that they can improve their human resources and capacity in dry land farming," he said.
On the same occasion, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, M.P., IPU also expressed his gratitude to the Director General Dr. Cesar Jose d Crus for trusting the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University to continue the collaboration that has been going on for quite a long time. Appreciation is also given to the Dryland Agriculture Masters Study Program for this collaboration. The MoU that Unud has with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste which is translated into a Cooperation Agreement is very useful for Timor Leste as well as at Udayana University. This collaboration is really needed by Unud because it is an international collaboration needed for accreditation of study programs and accreditation of Udayana University. The Vice Rector hopes that this collaboration will continue to be improved in the future to benefit both parties.
This activity was also coupled with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement letter between the Master of Dryland Agriculture at Udayana University and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste, as well as the pinning of hats by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Udayana University to 13 trainees.
