The Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Visited the China ASEAN Cross Cultural Institute (CACI), Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University
Denpasar – Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN H.E. HOU Yanqi Together with the group visited the China ASEAN Cross Cultural Institute (CACI) Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Udayana University (Unud). This visit was received by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information representing the Rector of Udayana University together with the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and staff, the Director of TCI and the Chair of CACI at the FIB Unud Building, Denpasar Campus, Monday (3/7/2023).
Dean of FIB Unud Prof. Made Sri Satyawati in her remarks introduced a glimpse of the Faculties and Study Programs at FIB. Through collaboration with the Chinese Government, the Faculty of Humanities had CACI which was established in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic. Activities that have been carried out since 2022, namely learning Mandarin with the aim of introducing Chinese culture, preparing for the opening of the Mandarin Study Program where the proposals are complete and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, seminars and research activities cannot be carried out to compare Chinese and Indonesian culture to find out the influence Chinese culture in Balinese life.
The establishment of the Mandarin Language Study Program is one of the efforts to introduce Chinese culture to Balinese or Indonesian people through cultural activities that can be carried out by students. The faculty will definitely support the program. The success of these programs certainly requires support, especially funding from various parties, especially from the Chinese government. The Dean hopes that this collaboration can run well and provide benefits for both parties.
Vice Rector Prof. I Putu Gede Adiatmika in his remarks said that the presence of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Unud gave him enthusiasm to continue working in order to improve and strengthen China and ASEAN relations through CACI at Udayana University. The Vice Rector further said that until now Udayana University has collaborated with several universities in China through various forms of cooperation such as the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) which is coordinated by the Faculty of Tourism. Various activities have been carried out such as language courses, student exchanges, training, cultural development and other activities. It is hoped that the Ambassador's presence will further encourage the implementation of this collaboration.
"Udayana has established various domestic and foreign collaborations. One of the internationalization programs is a program for foreign students spread across various faculties and accepts regular students and short courses," said the Vice Rector.
The Vice Rector hopes that the Ambassador's visit will be a breath of fresh air and a trigger for the development and strengthening of Indonesia-China cooperation, especially at Udayana University.
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN H.E. HOU Yanqi said that he had just been appointed and hoped that there would be many activities at Unud so that his party could attend Unud frequently. He further stated that Indonesia is increasingly becoming important in cooperation with China, so that cooperation with Bali including Unud does not only play a role locally but begins to play a global role in Indonesia-China cooperation. The international situation is currently facing many challenges and through the forged cooperation it is expected to be able to overcome these challenges.
