Celebrating Mother's Day, Dharma Wanita Association of Sub-Units of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Holds Early Detection of Breast and Cervical Cancer

In commemoration of the 94th Mother's Day, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Sub Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) held early detection of breast and cervical cancer on Wednesday (21/12/2022) at the Cakra Vidhya Usadha Building, FK Unud Sudirman. Dozens of participants from the DWP sub-unit FK Unud took part in the activity enthusiastically. The activity, which was opened directly by the Head of DWP Unud, was also held in collaboration with the Badung District Health Office through the Mangupura Women Service (Mawas) Women's Health Service Car.

Head of DWP Unud Mrs. Dayu Bulan Antara appreciated this activity because during its two management periods, namely since 2017, this activity was the first time that it had been carried out by the DWP FK Unud sub unit. Moreover, the arisan activities coupled with these useful activities are really needed by women at this time.

Early detection of breast and cervical cancer is important because these two diseases are a scourge for women. Early detection is very necessary so that it can be treated immediately so that the chances of recovery are even greater. The attention of the DWP Unud to the health aspects of women, especially members of the DWP Unud, is not only in terms of assisting the leaders in the Unud environment but also paying attention to health aspects.

Mrs. Dayu Bulan also recommends that members regularly carry out pap smears, cervical cancer vaccines, avoid smoking, eat a balanced nutritional diet and exercise to achieve ideal body weight. Everything is done in order to be able to accompany the leaders in the Udayana University both at formal and informal events in good health. He hopes that this activity can become a routine activity for the DWP Sub-unit of the Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University, provided that it does not conflict with the activities of the DWP Unud.

Head of the DWP Sub Unit FK Unud dr. Urged Wihandani Putra Pinatih said cancer was still a major problem and breast cancer was the highest cause of death for women. To increase women's awareness to be more vigilant, early detection activities are carried out. "Because more cancer cases that come to the hospital are in an advanced stage," he said.

Breast and cervical cancer are not only deadly but also require high treatment costs. In addition to early detection of cervical and breast cancer, the DWP FK Unud Sub Unit also checks blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. This effort is also one of the early detection efforts to find other diseases.
