Introducing Campus Life, Unud Holds PKKMB for New Students 2021
Jimbaran – Udayana University held an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for new students batch 2021 which took place online through the Webex Application, Monday (9/8/2021). The purpose of holding an introduction to campus life is an effort by the University so that new students can more easily adapt to the learning process and academic life at Udayana University. This year's PKKMB took the theme "Strengthening Education, Advancing Culture to Realize Competitive, Innovative and Character Human Resources in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era in an Era Order". PKKMB was opened by the Rector of Udayana University and attended by the leaders of Udayana University.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng in his report as Chairman of the Committee said that the 2021 PKKMB participants totaled 5,904 people divided into 60 clusters, and each cluster consisted of approximately 100 students. PKKMB participants are new students from the selection of SNMPTN, SBMPTN, Independent Path, Papua Affirmation Student Path/Adik 3T, and Old Students who did not participate and did not pass PKKMB in 2020. Graduation criteria in this PKKMB use several parameters including attendance in each session, seriousness in participating in each activity session, discipline in using time, perseverance in listening to the material and obedience to the rules. Participants are declared passed if they meet all of these criteria.
"I need to say that the Introduction to Campus Life is mandatory for new students at Udayana University because graduation from PKKMB is a prerequisite for taking part in Graduation later, participants who pass will be given a CERTIFICATE OF PASSING CERTIFICATE and for participants who have not passed are still given the opportunity to take part in PKKMB in the next period”, said Prof. Antara.
While the Rector of Unud Prof. Dr. dr. A.A Raka Sudewi, Sp.S (K) in his speech said that PKKMB is a routine activity carried out at the beginning of every academic year. This needs to be done considering that new students entering campus life require adaptation to be able to adapt to the campus environment, including the learning process in college. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic that is hitting the world today, it forces us to carry out this PKKMB activity online. Many new students are psychologically not ready to carry out the higher education learning process based on scientific autonomy and the freedom to develop an academic pulpit.
"Students' readiness to enter campus life is very important because it will affect their success in pursuing their studies. Through the Introduction to Campus Life, New Students will be given an understanding of various aspects of knowledge in the field of higher education including the infrastructure that can be utilized and how to use it. ", said Prof. Raka Sudewi.
It is hoped that new students will seriously participate in this activity because the Introduction to Campus Life is part of the academic culture and through academic culture we will be able to increase the nation's competitiveness.
