NATIONAL SEMINAR OF LITERATURE AND CULTURE: LITERATURE AND CULTURE AS MULTICULTURALISM BASIS
The Opening National Seminar of Literature and Culture II by Prof.Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Bratha with the Head of Committee, Dr.Dra I Gusti Ayu Gede Sisiowati,M.A.
Denpasar – Friday (26/05), Faculty of Arts, Udayana University held National Seminar of Literature and Culture II in Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Building, on the 4th floor, Auditorium Widya Sabha Mandala. This seminar is entitled "Development of Literary and Cultural Knowledge as an Effort to Improve Knowledge and Appreciation to Cultural Diversity of Nation".
"This theme is very important because we can understand the very close relationship between literature and culture, so that there are an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity to realize multiculturalism," said Prof.Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Bratha, M.A., the Dean of the Faculty of Arts when giving a speech.
Furthermore, she explained, the multiculturalism is an ideology that recognizes and glorifies differences in equality both individually and in groups. Literary and cultural differences and similarities are seen as a cornerstone in multiculturalism. So it is very necessary as an academician to learn about literature and culture.

Not only from Faculty of Arts, Udayana University, this seminar also presented lecturers and professors from several universities in Indonesia such as Manneke Budiman, M.A., Ph.D, a lecturer from University of Indonesia and Prof.Dr. I Wayan Rai, Rector of the Indonesian Cultural Arts Institute (ISBI) of Tanah Papua, who is also the main speaker.
This SNSB II will last for two days (Friday and Saturday) with 62 speakers from various backgrounds such as lecturers, teachers, and artists. The seminar will be conducted in parallel with different judges and themes. It is expected that through the activities can provide understanding for the people of Indonesia in interpreting the relationship between literature and culture so that there is an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity to realize multiculturalism.
