Improving the Academic Atmosphere, Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Unud Holds Public Lectures
The
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Study Program has held a Public Lecture
which took place in the Library Hall, Udayana University Central Library. The
guest lecturer invited this time was Hangar Ganara Mawandha, S.T., M.Eng.,
Ph.D., who is a PS TPB lecturer at the UGM Faculty of Agricultural Technology.
This public lecture was attended mainly by PS TPB FTP Unud students class of
2023, 2022, and lecturers.
The
guest lecturer delivered material entitled "Application of Remote Sensing
Technology for Hydrometeorological Disaster Mitigation as Support for
Sustainable Agricultural Activities". The material presented includes
climate change that is occurring, the importance of remote sensing technology,
efforts to utilize remote sensing technology that already exists in space and
on land, empirical equations for predicting rain. Until now the ability to
predict the possibility of rain is still limited to a few hours. This
estimation ability continues to be improved until it reaches the next few days
or 1 week.
This
material is an enrichment of the material provided in the Remote Sensing,
Geographic Information Systems, Hydrology and Climatology courses offered at PS
TPB FTP Unud. PS TPB FTP Unud students welcomed this activity enthusiastically.
During the discussion after the presentation of the material, many students
asked questions to deepen the general lecture material. Students asked about
remote sensing technology, the level of validity of estimates, more in-depth
explanations in the application of empirical equations. The material for
predicting hydrometeorological disasters using radar technology and satellite
imagery provides a new learning experience for students so that in the future
there will be research collaboration between students and lecturers related to
the application of this technology.
