Promoting the Development of Village Level Investment Literacy, Agus Erik and Team Won First National Champion in MCMC 2023 Competition

Denpasar, Press Bureau of BEM FEB Unud: Agus Erik Wistika Putra, a student of the Bachelor of Accounting study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University class of 2020, once again made Udayana University proud by winning first place in the MCMC 2023 (Mahasaraswati Capital Market Competition), which is a national scientific article competition. In this competition, Agus Erik was accompanied by two of his colleagues, Luh Putu Citra Kusuma and Ni Putu Suriani, who came from the Accounting Undergraduate Study Program class of 2021. MCMC 2023 was held on May 9, 2023, and was attended by 32 groups, which were then filtered into TOP-6 to continue to the next stage. Their group was named "Generation Team," which was formed because they have a common interest in developing investment literacy through the Capital Market Study Group of FEB Unud. In this competition, Generation Team came up with a raw idea for a scientific article inspired by a real story experienced by the team during the organization, namely that the community, especially at the indigenous village level in the field, has a high interest in investing. However, the main problem lies in the low investment literacy in the community.

Agus Erik also revealed that his team used secondary data research to compare the real phenomenon with data from secondary sources. Then the data shows the results between one variable and another are interrelated, which states that it is true that the financial literacy rate in Bali is still much smaller than the inclusion rate of 2.8 times. This article was also strengthened by conducting research in one of the sample villages in Bali. During the process of making this article, Agus Erik and his colleagues faced a classic obstacle, namely limited time for following the lecture schedule with the preparation and deadline for the competition. However, with the establishment of good communication between fellow team members, these obstacles can be overcome until they are finally able to qualify for the TOP-6 and win first place in the competition.

During an online interview via Instagram Direct Message (DM), Agus Erik conveyed his message to FEB Unud students, especially those who want or are competing, namely, "As students, we must be brave, plan, and pray and do our best, but don't be afraid to lose. Competition is not just to win, but to be a measure of ourselves. Losing a competition is not the end of the world; move on, find another competition, and repeat until you succeed," said Agus Erik.
