Predicting Mortality in Precapillary Pulmonary Hypertension Cases, Bryan Gervais Wins 1st Place at the National Heart Congress

Bryan Gervais de Liyis, a coas student class of 2019 from the Medical Profession Education Study Program at Udayana University, has achieved extraordinary success. Bryan won 1st place in the oral presentation event at the 12th Bali Cardiology Update (Bac-Up) National Congress which was held at the Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali on 23 - 26 August 2023.

 

With the big theme "Improving Knowledge on Latest Cardiovascular Disease: Translating Guideline Into Real-World Experience", this activity was attended by participants from various backgrounds, including specialist doctors, residents, and general practitioners from all over Indonesia.

 

Bryan Gervais de Liyis' brilliant achievement lies in the presentation of his study which discussed the use of the prognostic value of echocardiographic imaging functional parameters in the right ventricle of the heart in predicting mortality in cases of precapillary pulmonary hypertension. With the innovations carried out in his study, it is hoped that health workers will be more sensitive in anticipating worsening patient conditions and providing appropriate treatment.

 

The event was also attended by various important figures, including I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, SE, M.Sc., as the Indonesian Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, dr. I Kadek Susila Surya Darma, Sp.JP(K), FIHA, FAsCC., who is chairman of the Bali Indonesian Cardiology Association (Perki), and Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes., as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

 

This prestigious award was handed over directly by Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Wita, Sp.JP (K), FIHA, FasCC and Dr. dr. I Made Junior Rina Artha, SpJP, KI, IKKv(K), FIHA, FAsCC, FAPSIC, FSCAI, FESC at the closing of the event which was held at the Westin Hotel ballroom on August 26 2023.

 

This achievement not only reflects his dedication in the field of medicine, but also strengthens the position of Udayana University as an educational institution that supports the development of science and innovation in the medical world. This success also makes a valuable contribution in efforts to improve the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease in Indonesia.
