Disaster (disaster) according to ISDR (2004) is a serious disruption to the functioning of a community or society that results in extensive human, material, economic or environmental losses and exceeds the ability of the affected community or community to cope with their own resources.

Geographical location and geological conditions cause Bali to become one of the islands in Indonesia that has natural resources and diverse community cultures. On the other hand, Bali also has various potential disasters. Unpreparedness in dealing with disasters will certainly lead to large potential losses. This is the goal of Udayana University Postgraduate (UNUD) to improve understanding and reduction of disaster risk, namely to conduct a comparative study visit to the Masters of Disaster Science study program at Syiah Kuala University (UNSYIAH), Aceh on Thursday, (13/10/2022) and at the same time in order to improve the quality of management of Postgraduate Unud tertiary institutions

The comparative study visit was received by the UNSYIAH Disaster Science Masters Study Program, Dr. Rina Suryani Oktari, S.Kep., M.Sc.

Dr. Oktari explained "The Master of Disaster Science at Syiah Kuala University was held due to the 2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami disaster. Here we are very aware of our role and responsibility in producing technology-based scientific and scientific efforts for the safety of future generations from the threat of disasters. Moreover, Aceh has the world's most complete footprint for disaster research, particularly earthquakes and tsunamis".

"For now, our study program is trying to attract prospective students in the field of Disaster Science," he added.

Prof. Ir. Linawati, M.Eng.Sc.,Ph.D as the Postgraduate Director of Unud said "Thank you for accepting our visit to the Master of Disaster Science Study Program."

The Unud Postgraduate Director explained that this comparative study visit was aimed at obtaining a point view on the implementation of higher education for Postgraduates, especially the Master of Disaster Science study program organized by Unsyiah Postgraduates. In this forum, it was stated that in the future Unud Postgraduate plans to open two Masters study programs, namely Disaster Science.

On this occasion, Deputy Director II, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Putri Kartika, SH., MH. added that this visit was aimed at brainstorming and sharing to discuss management, curriculum, and facilities and infrastructure owned by the Unsyiah Disaster Science Masters Study Program.

The discussion about management revolves around the scope of the management of the Master of Disaster Science, starting from the recruitment of lecturers, recruitment of students, to calculating the required unit cost. Curriculum discussion. Meanwhile, the discussion of the facilities and facilities needed are classrooms, special study rooms for Masters, and information systems that support the intensity of learning for the master's program, Labs, and other facilities.

The discussion went smoothly so that it was hoped that it would further strengthen mutually beneficial relations between the two higher education institutions in the field of education, especially in improving the quality of academic services.
