Indonesian Mathematics Day July 15

Indonesian Mathematics Day July 15

The Indonesian Mathematical Society (Indonesian Mathematical Society), commonly abbreviated as IndoMS, proposed that July 15 be designated as Indonesian Mathematics Day. In the IndoMS Congress held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Mathematics Study Program, FMIPA Udayana University, IndoMS members agreed to propose the date to the Indonesian government.

IndoMS is a forum for mathematicians in Indonesia to jointly carry out math-related activities, such as seminars, workshops, research, community service, and others. The Indonesian Mathematical Association was founded on July 15, 1976 in Bandung. As the impetus for its establishment is Prof. Dr. Lee Peng Yee who was then thought of by many professors, including Prof. Andi Hakim Nasution., Prof. Moedomo, Prof. Soehakso, Prof. Slamet Dayono, and others. This set is a forum for mathematicians, educators, users, and math enthusiasts.

Basic information about IndoMS including the Articles of Association and Bylaws, along with the Work Program, and its Management can be found on the IndoMS website at http://indoms.id Currently, IndoMS has more than 2000 members spread across all provinces in Indonesia. The establishment of Indonesian Mathematics Day is deemed necessary to increase people's love for mathematics, a science that is often considered difficult but indispensable in everyday life. IndoMS President Prof. Dr. Indah Emilia Wijayanti stated this in front of 220 IndoMS Congress participants who were present online and a number of participants joined live streaming via Yuotube. The IndoMS congress in 2022 was chaired by Dr. NO. Gandhiadi, MT. from FMIPA Udayana University as chairman of the organizing committee. (IEW).
